Description
The village Kaprun, in the middle of the Austrian Alps 2010 expanded its tourism offer by the hotel thermal spa "Tauern SPA". The terrain, on which the Hotel Therme was built, is called alluvial. The structural engineer had to take this into consideration and has decided to, to let build the pools only at a time, when the largest forces already rests on the foundations. He has therefore chosen a variable and possibly weather-independent construction for the pools.
The very precise requirements of architects have been implemented through a redesign of the overflow gutter and of the hydraulic connections. The stone-covered gutter saves energy, especially in the mountains.
Pool hydraulic
In keeping with the requirements of the shape of the pools, the flow was implemented both vertically and horizontally. Special vertical nozzles have been developed for vertical flow, whose flow can be calculated and set. This allowed the critical areas to be supplied in a defined manner. In addition, the piping was "in line" instead of the "Tichelmann" system (like a deer antler) possible. This saves pressure losses and therefore energy.
In pool with horizontal flow system "Strahlenturbulenz" was used. The also newly designed nozzles were optimized and received a wall-planar cover. Before handing over to the new owner the pools was proved with a dyeing test, that all pools in 5 to 9 minutes let colorize and discolor complete. The future swimmers would be so surrounded within a short time from the necessary disinfectant.
Construction process
September is not necessarily the right time, to begin construction of outdoor pools in the mountains. But because first a bored pile foundation took place, then the main building was built and then the lowering of the floor had to be awaited, no better time frame for the pools was possible.
Pool after pool, a tent was erected and built the pool in this tent. This was a logistical challenge, which was mastered together with the other companies.
