1. Quotation DIN 19643, section 4: “For disinfecting, a germ killing of Pseudomonas aeruginosa by four orders of magnitude was within 30 s based on..”
Even if you think, this sentence could not relate to the swimming pool: This theorem is the basis of any further consideration! This theorem describes the effect of the disinfectant chlorine at a concentration of between 0,3 and 0.6 mg/l. All other theorems are built up on this foundation. This theorem is also true for water treatment.
2. The disinfectant must be within 10 minutes be distributed in the pool.
By sun exposure, wind and people in the water it comes to “consumption” of free chlorine. The consumption is primarily a conversion of the free chlorine in combined chlorine (see tutorial disinfection). The movement of the water in the pool has the disinfectant within 10 minutes completely distributed throughout the volume of the water. The time stamp is different national. The check is usually done by means of a color test. Instead of the disinfectant, a dye is added to the water.
This video shows a compilation of several dye experiments with 10-times speed.
3. The edge of the overflow of water must always be horizontal, with an accuracy of ± 2mm!
The biggest pollution of water are located on the surface. Therefore, all uses a horizontal edge on the entire perimeter of the pool. This edge increases the surface tension of the water and prevents deposits on the wall of the pool. The absolute horizontal position of the edge secures, that flows the same amount of water to all areas of the circumference. This function is a prerequisite for a successful color test.
4. The substructure of the basin must not change after the start of construction the pools!
For normal building a change in the position in certain dimensions is permitted and harmless. This possibility is in DIN 4019 described. A second reason may be the permissible bending static components. Also, the compression of the soil around the pool after its completion may change the position of the pools negative.
Especially in renovation of existing pools must be investigated, whether the pool changed by the weight of water or due to temperature effects.
5. The pool has to be resistant again water with disinfectant and customary conditions of the weather!
The following influences on the material surface should be considered:
- Water temperature,
- Concentration of disinfectant,
- Salts in water,
- Lime deposits,
- Flexibility of the static pool,
6. The pool must be able to be filled!
Already during the time of filling the water can change its chemical and biological parameters. The loss of pressure and increasing the temperture there may be deposits of lime, Iron or manganese come. The loss of CO2 possibly raises the pH.
The higher temperature leads to the multiplication of organisms in the water. It can come to a settlement of the walls, the bottom and the other components.
In a conventional construction with an overflow drain the treatment only of completely filled pool is possible. Therefore, the time has to be calculated, how quickly the pool is full and there is closed circle . It may be necessary countermeasures.
7. The pool must be able to be emptied!
In the past, there have frequently been fatal accidents during the emptying of pools. For the construction of such drain openings the requirements of DIN EN apply 13451. For all components, a test must be performed with hair.
But the channel system and the containers must be able to make the emptying of the pool possible.
8. The pool must be built safely!
Compliance with the standard DIN EN 13451 secure the owner of the pool mostly against claims for accidents caused by the person or their insurance. The early vote on the characteristics of the pool with the appropriate insurance prevent false constructions.
9. Electrical influence
With swimming pools outside of buildings, protection against lightning is, the grounding of the pool, to observe the balance of different electrical potential and the compensation of the voltage steps.
The following pages…
will present the different construction types and associated materials of pools. But this is not done in a Pro- and contra-form. Instead, as neutral as possible description of the important points from my own personal opinion and experience. The assessment must be done by each reader for himself.
Have lots of fun with it!
